From there we went to Sizzler for lunch - and the students loved the all-you-can-eat buffet, and surprisingly made some good food choices - even eating fruits and vegetables.
Off to the beach where fun was had by all. We chased waves, wrote in the sand, built castles, searched for rocks, played volleyball, keep away, soccer and all the other fun beach games. The students could have spent the entire day there. We had never seen so much laughing and playing and it was a good time for them just to be kids. We were able to see a Kookaburra in the trees and the silly thing laughed us...which was pretty cool because the students have been practicing their kookaburra laughs since we have been here (and they are getting pretty good at it).
The students learned a lot about Australian sea life. We got to meet some mischievous Australian sea otters, Chaos and Mayhem. They told us all about what ingenious escape artists they are. We were able to watch a sea lion show and were told how they train them. The students were able to hold some starfish, sea cucumbers, hermit crabs, and various aquatic plants. We got to find Nemo and found that he was safe and sound in Mooloolaba, Australia.
As an end note for the day, the students all planned and executed a surprise party for Miss Lori's 29th (cough, cough) birthday.
Everyone is tucked in bed and looking forward to our school visit tomorrow in Gin-Gin.
It sounds like it was a more relaxing day...hope all the kids remembered their sunblock..especially my Samantha....please remind Samantha to take lots of pictures...we love her.. hugs and kisses!
