Packing Lists

Packing List – Checked Bag
1.      Pants/Capris – about 4 or 5 pairs.  I have found the lighter weight khaki type material travels the best.  Avoid bringing only jeans if possible.  They don’t travel well and take forever to dry if there is a need to wash them.
2.      Walking shorts (knee length or slightly above) – 1 pair.  It will be cooler but we might get a warmer day and it is good to be prepared.
3.      Shirts – I would bring about 10 – mixture of long sleeve t’s and regular (remember no logos from bands, cigarettes, drugs, skulls, etc.)  Layering will be important on this program.
4.      Dress shirt (either button up shirt or NICE polo) to wear for our visit with Parliament.   We will wear these with our Khakis.
5.      Underwear – either enough to change every day or plan to wash by hand.
6.      Socks – enough for every day or plan to wash by hand.
7.      Raincoat/outer waterproof shell.  It will rain while we are there, be prepared.  I use a shell (which is a lightweight jacket that I can wear layers underneath) as they are less bulky to pack.
8.      Sweatshirts – bring at least 1.
9.      Scarf (to keep your neck warm.  It will be cold.)
10.   Jammies – 1 or 2 pairs.  Remember to be appropriate with these and think cooler/cold nights)
11.   Shoes – A good pair of walking/tennis shoes (we will be walking 4-5 miles a day).  Also may want to bring a pair of flip-flops for showering or wear around the hotels.
12.   Umbrella – compact size.
13.   Travel alarm clock.
14.   Toiletries – Shampoo, conditioner, brush/comb, toothbrush/paste, body wash, deodorant, tissues, hand sanitizer, lotion, sunscreen, bug repellent, contact lens solution and extra case)  These would be regular size products and should be packed in Ziplock bags to prevent spillage into your luggage.
15.   Travel size laundry soap – I usually get a small bottle (in with the travel size products) or triple strength liquid tide).  Remember to put in a Ziplock bag to prevent spillage.
16.   Extra batteries for anything you bring that may need batteries.
17.   Extra Ziplock bags for dirty/wet clothes – all sizes and fabric softener sheets (to put in with your dirty clothes).
18.   Mini sewing kit (never know when you will pop a button).
19.   Small flashlight.
20.   Voltage adapter for Australia (these can be purchased at Walmart or Target).
21.   Hat/sunglasses.
22.   Small address book for sending home postcards, etc.
23.   More individually packed snacks if you want.
Remember to leave room for Souvenirs and also to coordinate your clothes so you can mix and match.
Carry-On (Backpack) Packing List
1.       One complete change of clothes in Ziplock bag (pants, shirt, undergarments, socks)
2.      Swimsuit and towel.  We will be getting off the plane and going to Olympic stadium and swimming in the Olympic pool.  We will NOT have time to get into our suitcases to get these out.
3.      Your travel journal and writing instruments.
4.      Anything valuable (money, camera, Ipod, etc.)
5.      Toiletry set (not to exceed 3 oz each shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothpaste/brush etc.  These need to be in a quart sized Ziplock to go through security.
6.      Any medications (prescriptions must be in original package with the prescription label on them, if you use an inhaler, make sure you bring the box the inhaler came in that has the label.  Also might want to bring aspirin, Pepto, motion sickness meds if you are prone to motion sickness).
7.      Contact lens solution and extra lenses.
8.      A book to read if you choose.
9.      Individual packaged snacks (if you want).
Your sling bag.
